[ May 04, 2017 ] The militant violence and security forces casualties in Jammu and Kashmir witnessed very significant rise in 2016 as compared to the previous year.Concerned with the spate of terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, the security forces on Thursday cordoned off more than 20 villages of Shopian district, in order to carry out search operation. The massive search operation has been jointly initiated by the Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and state Police. Ever since the Indian Army carried out surgical strikes on seven terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) and inflicted significant casualties on terrorists preparing to infiltrate from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), the terrorists with Pakistan backing, have desperately tried to launch attacks in the Valley. Though major anti – militancy offencing in south – Kashmir is necessary and also welcome. But at the same time when will we develop a habbit of dealing with evils. They start grooming as after the loot of banks and loss of precious security personnel’s. This effective scenes of little relevance, as the time has come to develop a strategy and fix the punishment for every crime and take steps to implement the every crime and take steps to implement the same. Changing strategy on the daily basis will not only demoralize the security forces but will not make no impact on wrong doers. What has been witnessed in the valley for last two months is testimony of lenient and lethargic approach towards all those, who openly dares to target the security forces and even to take law in their own hand at the behest of anti-social elements. Both the governments need to identify the real trouble creators so that they may not exploit and misguide innocence, which is costing them their lives. For which, they had no value as their lives. For which, they had no value as their children are well protected and as nothing to do with their so called struggle in Kashmir. South Kashmir has seen a spate of attacks on banks, especially in southern districts of Shopian and Pulwama. Security forces on Thursday launched a massive anti-militancy operation in south Kashmir"s Shopian district following reports of movement of militants in villages. A contingent of around 4,000 security personnel from the the Army, CRPF and the police cordoned off Shopian and nearby Pulwama villages. Locals said security forces conducted house-to-house searches in over dozen villages, including Heaf, Sugan, Chilipora and Malnad. Around 20 villages are believed to be under the search operation. Shopian, around 60 km south of Srinagar, has witnessed a spurt in militancy. Several banks were looted and five guards disarmed by militants on Tuesday. Five policemen were also killed on Monday. Police sources said the operation is to restrict the movement of militants through area domination and hitting the safe havens. Till last reports came in, no militant was arrested. However, security forces had to chase away stone-throwing local youth in the morning. Tear-smoke shells were used to enter the villages. Recently released videos, comprising 57 militants, according to the police, were shot in the same area where the operation has been launched. These videos released on the social media showed armed and unmasked militants openly posing photos.
