[ May 05, 2017 ] Immediately after Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) declared result of Preliminary Examination, a group of KAS aspirants across state protested and accused the commission for favoring ‘blue eyed candidates’ in the shortlist.According to the aspirants, the shortlist is filled with many discrepancies and doubts. The cut-off of JKPSC for meritorious candidates is 270 points, candidates in large number who have crossed the cut-off don’t fall in the short list. However, till now Public Service Commission has not made the answer keys public. The aspirants said there are candidates who have crossed 320 points and above who are also not in the selection list. They said that they did calculation on their own by consulting teachers, books and online resource.KAS aspirants said that the PSC has for the first time skipped to publish the official answer keys and points secured by the candidates which they used to do earlier.A total number of 36,681 candidates appeared in the Preliminary Examination, out of which 6925 candidates have been short-listed for the Main Examination. The examination was conducted on 19-March-2017 after it got delayed due to unrest in 2016.Large number of students from different institutions were protesting and demanding cancellation of the prelims result of KAS 2016-17 and conduct it afresh. Student’s community also blaming JKPSC for mass error in KAS preliminary result 2016-2017. JKPSC conducted preliminary examination 2016 held on 19-03-2017,in which more than 5000 students who scored more than 300 marks are out of list of qualified candidates whereas the cut off marks was 270.477.Students whose names were not in the list were continuously protesting against JKPSC and express their angers by boycotting their classes and studies. Students also have to think about their crucial time and money which they spent on their studies while preparing for KAS or any other examination.Yes, I am also with the protesting students, even we covered a story against JKPSC in our last edition. Protests means a statement or action expressing disapproval of or objection to something.. You all are have to think what to choose and how?You all have to keep things in mind that time never waits for us, so don’t waste your time. Some political organisations are using the students, for their own motives. You will protest, but at what cost. Choose different mechanisms instead of boycotting your classes and studies. Today our great leaders, are leading us. Some of them lead great movements, but they didn’t sacrifice their studies. There are number of examples in our states cabinet and national cabinet. Important portfolios were only given to those who were educationally competent enough for those positions. Dr. Jatinder Singh ji who is currently the Minister of State (MoS) (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, Prime Minister Office, Pensions, Department and Department of Space. He is a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Executive member and was the chief spokesperson for the State of Jammu and Kashmir. He won the Udhampur seat in Indian general election, 2014 for the 16th Lok Sabha. He was a professor of diabetes and endocrinology, a consultant and clinical practitioner, author of 8 books, and a newspaper columnist. He is the ex-Chairman, National Scientific Committee Diabetes, Research Society for Study of Diabetes in India. There were many leaders who were senior to Dr. Singh. There were many who strengthened BJP in J&K and worked very hard but why our Prime Minister chosen Dr. Singh for such an important position? Why not others? Think? It’s the time to build your carrier not someone’s political ambitions. You are all the builders of the nation on whose shoulders our nation’s power and glory touches the sky.
