Court frames corruption charges against Police cop in illegal gratification

[ May 29, 2017 ] Jammu: Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu framed charges u/s (1) (d) r/w 5(2) of Jammu & Kashmir P.C.Act,vt.2006 & 161 RPC ( now Section 4-A P.C.Act 2014 (Amendment) against Abrar Wani then posted as Selection Grade Constable in Police Station Purmandal, Samba.According to the police case that Abrar Wani while being posted as Selection Grade Constable in Police Station Purmandal, Samba in the year 2015 demanded an amount of Rs.10,000/- as bribe and accepted the said amount from the complainant Ram Saroop and thereafter handed over the same to one Basharat Ali ( owner of the restaurant ) while sitting in Restaurant Tandoori Flames, Bari Brahamana as consideration for not implicating complainant in a case registered against villagers of village Mandal in Police Station Purmandal. As per the prosecution case accused was caught during the trap on 28.03.2015 and the bribe money was recovered from the possession of Basharat Ali to whom the bribe money was handed over by the accused after demand and accepting the same from the complainant. The material submitted by VOJ in support of the allegations put up against the accused do unerringly reveal that there is a ground for presuming that accused has committed offences under section 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) of Jammu & Kashmir P.C.Act,vt.2006 & 161 RPC ( now Section 4-A P.C.Act 2014 (Amendment).
