Double standards in dealing with terror precarious

[ June 27, 2017 ] India believes that the foremost challenge to international security continues to be posed by international terrorism. We must not fail in this regard. If we continue to adopt double standards in dealing with terrorism it will have serious consequences not just for our own countries, but the international community as a whole. America"s "War on Terror" policy has not been a secret to anyone. Flawed and disoriented, America has managed to create more terror groups than counter-terror groups. America"s double-standard take on terror has gained the country more critiques than laurels; another reason could be its ability to sustain as a global power. America has overstretched itself, increasing its influence across the world by intervening in the internal matters of countries in the name of terror. It is however the influence of America on the India- Pakistan relationship that accounts for scrutiny and questioning. While America is not entirely to blame, it was, however, their money that managed to create a mini Pakistan inside a Pakistan. Hafiz Saeed, branded as a terrorist continues to roam around freely, possessing full freedom to issue instigating statements against India. Terrorism today has become an instrument of state policy for some countries, while a number of terror groups wander around the lawless lands of some other regions of the world. We need to be convinced and convince others through our actions that all forms of terrorism are bad, and distinction of your terrorism and my terrorism or good terrorists and bad terrorists are unscrupulous and ill-conceived. The need of the hour is for countries to work towards dismantling terror infrastructure, destroying terror network and drying up the sources of terror financing and weapons supply. In order to understand America"s position on terrorist attacks in foreign countries, it"s necessary to look at the definition used by the State Department. For the State Department, terrorism is perpetrated by non-state entities, involves the premeditated use of violence, is committed against non-combatant targets, and has political aims. Syed Salahuddin, chief of the terrorist group Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, has been declared a Specially Designated Global Terrorist by the US Department of State. This is not less than lollypop by an America to Mr. Modi. On June the 26th, 2017 the US Department of State has designated Mohammad Yusuf Shah, also known as (AKA) Syed Salahuddin, as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) under Section 1(b) of Executive Order (E.O.) 13224. In September, 2016, Salahuddin vowed to block any peaceful resolution to the Kashmir conflict, threatened to train more Kashmiri suicide bombers, and vowed to turn the Kashmir valley “into a graveyard for Indian forces.” Under Salahuddin’s tenure as senior HM leader, HM has claimed responsibility for several attacks, including the April 2014 explosives attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which injured 17 people. Those who are celebrating America’s decision and termed it as a historical one were not aware of the fact that America has a long history of financial support to Pakistan.Despite being everything is in the public domain America’s decision is only a lollypop which Indian media is celebrating continuously on different news channels. Blame games were started, every representative from the different political parties are making such hue and cry. Let me remind you that this is America’s decision , which imposes sanctions on foreign persons who have committed, or pose a significant risk of committing, acts of terrorism that threaten the security of U.S. nationals or the national security, foreign policy, or economy of the United States. As a consequence of this designation, U.S. persons are generally prohibited from engaging in transactions with Salahuddin and all of Salahuddin’s property and interests in property subject to United States jurisdiction are blocked but what India has done with Salahuddin his oldest son, Shakeel Yousuf, works as a medical assistant at Srinagar"s Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, second son Javed Yousuf works in the Education Department as computer operator, while Shahid Yousuf is a Research Fellow at the Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology. Shah"s fourth son, Wahid Yusuf, is a doctor at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences. Mueed Yusuf, the youngest of Shah"s sons, is working at Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), Srinagar, Kashmir, this is India’s stand on Salahuddin . There is a great need for India to also take some strict and appropriate steps rather than celebrating America’s decision on different media channels. When India will awake and realize that America is only a capitalist nation and is only fooling India by these types of decisions. We, must understand that if America can wage war against Iraq, Afghanistan and many other terrorist sponsor nations but never ever against Pakistan because of its personal interests. Salahuddin is living a lavish life in Pakistan and it is still operating Hizb-ul-Mujahideen from Pakistan. If America is so serious about Pakistan’s militancy then it will diplomatically isolate Pakistan from all forums. It is very unfortunate that this is the same America who denied India’s claim that Pakistan is behind the Uri terror attack which killed 18 army soldiers. At that time the US was urging India to resolve the issue diplomatically and politically, warning that any military conflict would not serve either side. Washington was not convinced with the Indian claim that Islamabad had a direct role in the Uri assault that left 18 Indian soldiers dead.India has asserted that the four terrorists who attacked an army unit"s administrative base in Uri were sent from Pakistan. The army also said that the terrorists belonged to the Pakistan based terrorist outfit, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Pakistan, however, has rejected the allegations as baseless and unfounded, and called the Indian move an attempt to divert attention from the alleged human rights abuses in Jammu and Kashmir. All the above facts proved the double standards of America on Pakistan’s militancy and is a great threat to our nation.
