JK police to enhance special welfare to Rs 15 L for kin of cops who die in service

[ August 20, 2017 ] SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Police has decided to enhance the special welfare, for the next of kin of cops who die in service, from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.The decision to this effect was taken at the 13th Central Police Welfare meeting chaired by Director General of Police S P Vaid at the police headquarters here.“It was decided that the special welfare will be increased from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 15 lakh payable to the next of kin of the police personnel in the event of his or her death while in service,” a police spokesman said.It was also decided that the ‘retirement gift’ be enhanced from Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000.“For Special Police Officers (SPOs), the special relief in the event of death has been increased from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 2.50 lakh,” he added.Vaid said it was because of the support from the Government that the ration money was doubled and the ex-gratia relief to the martyrs was increased to Rs 20 lakh. Provision for availing Welfare Loan has been extended to Five (05) Chances in case of Life Terminal diseases subject to liquidation of the previous Welfare Loan(s), Average ceiling for grant of Relief in respect of Retired Police Personnel by Central Police Welfare Committee fixed up to Rs.50,000/- with enhancement in monthly contribution towards Retired Policemen Welfare Fund from Rs.2/- to Rs.10/- per head per month, Powers to District SsP for grant of Relief in favour of Retired Police Personnel enhanced from Rs.1000/- to Rs.2000/- in each case, Coaching for professional entrance examination for wards of Police Personnel shall be made available at Police Public Schools Jammu and Srinagar ,Ceiling for provision of Relief in respect of SPOs seriously injured in Law & Order duties enhanced upto Rs 1.00 lakh depending upon the nature of the injury suffered out of Police Pariwar Fund, Enhancement of Special Relief payable to NoKs of SPO in the event of his death from Rs.2.00 lakh to Rs. 2.50 lakh (inclusive of Immediate relief of Rs.30,000/-) , Provision of DGPs Special Reward for the wards of Serving Police Personnel qualifying competitive examinations through Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi, Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), New Delhi, National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), SKUAST (Jammu/Kashmir) , In addition to above, other agenda points relating to service matters were also discussed and decided to be taken up with the Government at appropriate level (.)
