9 Directors of CCBL elected

[ August 25, 2017 ] A nine- member Board of Directors of Citizens’ Cooperative Bank Limited (CCBL) was declared elected after the results were announced by the returning officer Zaffar Ahmed Banday here this evening.The elections for Board of Directors (BoDs) of the CCBL were held on Wednesday in which 45 candidates were in the fray. The counting started in the morning at 9 am at Yatri Bhwan, Bhagwati Nagar and the results were declared by late evening. The candidates declared winners included Praveen Kumar Sharma with 3188 votes,Bharat Bushan Gupta with 3196 votes,Kuldeep Raj Gupta with 2783 votes,Sachin Gupta with 2729 votes,Sumant Singh Jamwal with 2956 votes,Er. Suresh Kumar Gupta with 2708 votes,S. Surinder Singh with 2531 votes,Varinder Singh Jamwal with 2493 votes,Dinesh Gupta with 2345 votes. Immediately after the results were declared, the winners were garlanded profusely by their supporters. Then a victory march was taken out up to Jewel Chowk. Drum beaters were leading the marchers and the winners were mounted on an open Tata Mobile vehicle. Their supporters were following them raising slogans.The Board of Directors said that the cooperative movement is people’s movement and its management is to be rest within the hands of democratically elected members.They said that the Board always believes in democratic set up and even the present Board was elected with the majority support and blessings of its share holder. The Board had already written to the Registrar Cooperative Societies, J&K for conducting fresh elections as the Board completely believes in democratic set up for the smooth functioning of the Bank, they added.They laid stress on strengthening the cooperative movement in the State which is people’s movement. They exhorted upon the staff of the bank to work with zeal so that the position of this Bank can be improved.Board of Directors appealed all the members, depositors and customers of the Bank to transact all their business with The Citizens’ Cooperative Bank which is their own bank and is the largest and older Urban Cooperative Bank in the State. It deserves mentioning here that as many as 6731 votes were polled to elect nine member Board of Directors of Citizens’ Co-operative Bank Ltd Jammu, the elections for which were held here on Wednesday. ‘’Only 6731 votes out of a total of 24,884 eligible voters cast their votes today as against 4431 during the previous elections held in 2012. With about 27 to 30 percent votes polled today there has been an increase of about 52 percent voting in comparison to the last election.
