[ October 13, 2017 ] Jammu: Different media associations have been appreciating government’s stance of taking action against alleged unfair distribution of advertisements by joint director. In this connection, Jammu Newspapers Association (JNA) has termed the statement by spokesman of Information Department Union as bundle of lies and has ridiculed it by saying that the person has no authority to give details on behalf of the government.Hinting at disclosing the amount distributed among various papers against advertisements is none of business by union or union leaders but it is purely the affair of government and news papers, said JNA question the cooperation sought from some Guilds, they said that these are people who using employees and union leaders for their vested interests. JNA leaders, while questioning cooperation by Press Club of Jammu, said that General Secretary PCJ, Zorawar Singh has categorically rejected any such developments by saying that they had not made any negotiation with anybody in this regard.Leaders of JNA also said that there has been no cooperation by any Guild and it has been falsely or mistakenly written by some vested interests that some associations and Guilds are in cooperation with protesting employees. In-fact officers at the helm are actually behind the scene because small employees and journalists or editors have nothing to decide as according to policy the space and the name of the paper to which advertisement is issued is being done by the officer and not by the small employee. JNA leaders were of opinion that the officers should mend their ways of showing that they are rulers instead they should understand that they are servants of public and have had to renderer their duties with prompt accountability and in a corruption less environment so that cordial relation between media and employees of information is restored henceforth. They alleged that playing dirty politics and using their employees is a regular affair of officers of DIPR and until such acts are not stopped the environment is not going to be conducive. They demanded that there should be through probe in working and distribution of advertisement in Jammu as well as in Srinagar, so that truth about corrupt practices and nepotism is unearthed once for all.JNA leaders also expressed dismay over the development wherein a protestant is calling a paper as “petty Newspaper” for getting that if there is no news paper there is no job for such employees. They demanded that this statement should be cleared otherwise it would be another serious issue for the department to handle with.
