A self explained serious hand written complaint dated 20-7-2023 filed before the Chief Executive Officer SMVDSB, Katra by the minor female archery trainee (name withheld) who joined coaching in Aug 2022 against Kuldeep, Archery coach engaged by the SMVDSB sports authorities at the SMVDSB Sports Stadium. In the complaint letter, victim has clearly written that she was sexually molested by the Coach who accompanied her in the hotel room at Sonipat when was sponsored in the 5th April month 2023 for participation in Youth Games and for trial in Asia Cup at Sonipat. However, it has been learnt that no cognizance has been taken by the Authorities on the alleged charges of sexually harassment of minor girl when four months have already gone by. Worthwhile to mention here that Shrine Board has opened a big stadium at Katra inaugurated by Honble Prime Minister Narinder Modi with a vast objective to produce international players and many players has brought laurel and fame in many international games.But what would be the compulsion of the board authorities to shield such tarnished person who tried such heinous act and Board officials have not taken any action against the accused till now in accordance with law regarding sexual harassment. Moreover Stadium authorities have not established any Child Welfare Committee in the Stadium to oversee such wrongs. Authorities of the Board should adopt a ‘zero-tolerance policy’ towards sexual harassment cases, and the same should be followed up so as to ensure that justice is delivered to the poor minor girl players. Earlier similar type of complaint was hushed up by the Authorities when a woman (group leader) approached for cooperative parshad packing work before the officer of Joint CEO rank who in lieu indirectly demanded sexual favour. The matter was not much highlighted because victim didn’t want to take legal action and satisfied when secretly accused tendered apology for his criminal act.
During further investigation of the case, our correspondent made calls on the given mobile numbers as mentioned in complaint a copy of which lies with management of newspaper of which one was victim’s number and another one was of her father. During telephonic call it came to fore that Coach dated 25th June 2023 visited house of victim at 6:30 to tender his unconditional apology was beaten by family members and called PCR 112 as a result of which Farookh Nagar police team reached their residence and took coach along with them. The family members made brief note of what happened with the victim on April 7th 2023 at Sonipath but police insisted to narrate what happened on June 25th only. The Police refused to lodge their FIR and guided them to lodge FIR at Sonipat police station.
Meanwhile Manager SMVDSB, Katra made call to father of victim as to why the his daughter left the stadium who was briefed about whole episode as what happened with their daughter. Manager asked them to register their complaint before CEO Shrine Board and Dy CEO Shrine Board. The family members dated July 20th 2023 sent complaint on Whatsapp against coach. Taking serious cognizance of complaint, Shrine Board constituted four members Female enquiry committee which dated Aug 7th 2023 invited victim to come before Enquiry Committee at Vaishnavi Dham near Railway Station Jammu where victim and her father narrated whole story. What was outcome of this enquiry committee is still unknown. Meanwhile victim along with her father lodged FIR against SMVDSB engaged coach at Sonipat Police Station dated August 18 2023 under FIR No. 251. In light of above, Shrine Board should seriously investigate the whole episode as this coach has brought bad name to entire Shrine Board which is enjoying huge reputation throughout the world and should ensure that such incidents should not happen in future.
